SCREEN DIVERSITY SHOWCASE 2021: APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN FOR DIVERSE PERFORMERS!

This September the Equity Foundation, with major support from @screenaustralia and our partners at the @australiandirectorsguild and @australianwritersguild, will host the second Screen Diversity Showcase in Sydney.

The Showcase will bring together five writers, five directors and ten performers from diverse backgrounds. The selected creatives will collaborate on five distinct projects, all to be filmed as five-minute proof of concepts.

The program will culminate with all participants being flown to Sydney (if required) to film and edit their projects, before exhibiting them at the Showcase event, attended by the key decision-makers in Australian television and film.

The Screen Diversity Showcase is a unique opportunity for artists to collaborate in an environment that celebrates authentic cultural storytelling and promotes industry talent still underrepresented on our screens.

@kaarljilba_kaardn Being a recipient of the prestigious SIDNEY MYER PERFORMING ARTS AWARD this year is surreal and came as a complete surprise - I asked the Chairman if he had called the correct number 😂

I entered the Performing Arts industry as a shy yet passionate 17 year old some 24+ years ago. This is my first ever industry award!

While this is an 'Individual Award' we all know nobody gets to where they are in life by themselves.

Albeit small in numbers sometimes, I've had the best support around me, the best mentors and the best collaborators a creative being could ever wish for. I thank each and every one of them from the bottom of my heart for nurturing me as an individual.

I cherish the connection I share with my industry peers and my close support networks and I hold them dear to my heart. What journeys we’ve shared! They’ve helped shape me.

Thank you, Sidney Myer Fund and the Myer Foundation, for this recognition. It means a great deal though it’s still surreal.
